Applications for Fire Protection:

Fire Protection Flame Proofing eradicote Fire Blockers

Flame Proofing
It is often required that wallcoverings and fabrics used in public places be flame retardant. When your project calls for compliance to federal, state or local fire codes, we can flame proof your material and provide a certificate of compliance.

Flame Proofing Check List
1. Check with fire officials to determine code requirements.
2. When placing your order, specify the applicable code and intended use.
3. If written certification is required, request it when placing your order.

Most fabrics used for upholstery, window treatments, quilts, bed accessories and table linens can be flame proofed. The most common requested code for draperies is NFPA 701 small scale; and for upholstery is NFPA 260A (cigarette ignition test). In the absence of a specific request, we will process your fabric to meet NFPA Class A (UBC-Class-1) with limits on flame spread, smoke density, and fuel contribution of 25 or less, respectively.

We also offer Flame Proofing services for Wallpaper. Contact Customer Service for details.

service alert
Recently the AP published an article explaining that the use of a certain chemical to make furniture foam flame retardant is toxic. This chemical PBDE (polybrominated diphenyl ether) has many of the same characteristics as PCB's and DDT, and both of these have been banned for years.
It is logical to conclude from this article that the use of flame retardant foam may be environmentally irresponsible or not even available. This could have an impact on your ability to supply your customers with furniture that meets certain fire codes.

At Custom Laminations we can provide flame retardant services that are more environmentally friendly and pass flammability codes.
