Eradicote™
Flame retardant backing process

Eradicote™ is a flame retardant back coating that helps to impede a flame’s ability to penetrate into the cushion. Eradicote™, when processed on your fabric, is specifically designed to help comply with NFPA 260A (cigarette ignition test), NFPA Class A (UBC - Class-1), UFAC, CAL.T.B. 117, CAL.T.B. 133, FAA 25.853, FMVSS 302, Boston fire codes and BIFMA regulations.

The real appeal of Eradicote™ is that it does not significantly change the hand of the fabric or the fabric’s ability to breathe. Ideal for healthcare applications.

technical considerations
Material Requirements
Fabric up to 62” wide can be processed. Specify with your order how the fabric is to be used and what fire code must be met.

service alert
Recently the AP published an article explaining that the use of a certain chemical to make furniture foam flame retardant is toxic. This chemical PBDE (polybrominated diphenyl ether) has many of the same characteristics as PCB's and DDT, and both of these have been banned for years.
It is logical to conclude from this article that the use of flame retardant foam may be environmentally irresponsible or not even available. This could have an impact on your ability to supply your customers with furniture that meets certain fire codes.

At Custom Laminations we can provide flame retardant services that are more environmentally friendly and pass flammability codes.
